Passing through the unsurpassed views of scenic Chenab Lake and the surrounding Oak-Deodar forests and vast meadows this trek let you experience undisturbed camping experienced amidst unbound greenery. Accessible from Joshimath, Uttarakhand, this trek constitutes a part of the Garhwal Range of Himalayas and stretches from an elevation of 2050 to 4000 m in height. For its easy to gradual climb, the trek is considered to be suitable for even beginners and a guided trip of 8 nights and 9 days is enough to introduce you to the best alluring elements of this trekking expedition.

The itinerary crafted by Peak Adventure Tour let you walk past the solitary and secluded village of Chai and further brings you close to the panoramic views of the mighty mountain peaks of Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot, and Dronagiri. Click as many as shots you want to when the peaks change their colors at different times of the day. Further, your walk will be bestowed by the beauty of another scenic village, Thaing which exudes painstakingly designed surroundings of lush greenery and gentle slopes. A few kilometers ahead you get to witness the play of varied species of flowers such as primulas, orchids, poppies to Brahma kamal, marigold, anemones, and daisies in Dhar Kharak.

Tour Itinerary 

Day 01  

Rishikesh - Joshimath (240km/ 8-9hrs)
Post breakfast drives to Joshimath via Devprayag. En route visit the confluence of holy river Bhagirathi and Alaknanda at Dev Prayag. It is from here the sacred river Ganga starts its journey. By the evening arrive at Joshimath. Check in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 02  

Joshimath - Vishnu Prayag (10 km by road) - Thaing Village (8 km trek)
Drive to Vishnu Prayag and start trekking for Thaing Village. To enter the valley you will have to cross the bridge at Vishnuprayag. Overnight in the camp.

Day 03  

Thaing Village - Dhar Kharak (6 kms trek)
Wake up early to start trekking to Dhar Kharak or Baidwa Kharak. Packed lunch will be taken to serve you on the way. You will walk through dense forests and a couple of streams flowing down the enclosing mountains. Halt at Dhar Kharak. Overnight stay in the camp.

Day 04  

Dhar Kharak - Chenab Meadow (4 km)
Today's trekking starts from Dhar Kharak and ends at Chenab Meadow. There are around 500 species of flowers and several medicinal plants in this valley. From here you can head to Badrinath via Neelkanth Base Camp. Overnight stay in Camp.

Day 05  

Chenab Valley
The day is free of any activities. So explore the region. Overnight in a tent.

Day 06  

Chenab Valley – Thaing Village
Once you are done with breakfast, trek down to Thaing Village. Overnight stay in tent.

Day 07  

Thaing Village - Vishnu Prayag - Joshimath - Srinagar (160km/5-6 hours)
Wake up early and have your breakfast. Trek down to Vishnu Prayag and from there drive to Srinagar via Joshimath, Chamoli, and Rudraprayag. Once you reach check-in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 08

Srinagar - Rishikesh - Haridwar - Delhi
Post breakfast drives to Delhi via Haridwar. By the evening you will reach Delhi. Tour and Service end.




  • Transportation during the journey from the pickup on day 01 to drop on day 08 till Rishikesh is covered.

  • Accommodations on sharing basis as per itinerary (Triple /Quad Occupancy).

Cancellation Policy


The Trans Himalayan reserves the right to cancel trips. The Trans Himalayan is not responsible for additional expenses incurred by preparing for the trip (for example non-refundable advance purchase air tickets, clothing, equipment, visa fees, medical expenses, etc.).

  • If you cancel or leave a multi-day trip for any reason:

  • More than 60 days prior to the trip start date, we will grant you a full refund less a INR 2500 per person administrative fee.

  • Between 59 and 30 days prior to the trip start date, we will retain 25 percent of the trip cost

  • Between 29 and 15 days prior to the trip start date, we will retain 75 percent of the trip cost.

  • Less than 15 days prior to the trip start date, or once the trip has begun, there will be no refund.

  • Day Hike Cancellation Policy: 50% refund with 48 hours notice; no refund within 48 hours
